Please suggest best online training course
Hi, I'm new here......
I have very raw knowledge about software testing......someone please suggest me some online training courses for free that I could take. A course for beginners. I have watched some very basic videos on youtube that tell you what SQA is, but I want to train myself now. I mean some practical knowledge. Plz Help!!
I am probably going to sound like a bad boy here, but what the heck.... I would really suggest that you try to get an actual internship rather than try to train yourself. the internet is awesome for ideas, and looking up ways to broaden your skill set, but it is not the same as being in a team and learning from seasoned professionals. An internship gets you right in the mix, and you will quickly learn what you are good at or aren't, because SQA in its essence is an art form like any other skilled labor. Yes there are books and courses and all kinds of teaching tools, but they do not cover the day to day struggles and triumphs of testing software. It is not a job for everyone, as it is not a glorious job (it has it's moments), but a necessity for a company. There is a lot of pressure and stress in this job, and until you see it or feel it first hand, it can be misleading to think I just have to make some test cases and life is rosy.
Senior SQA Engineer
nk you Russle for your comment. I do understand what you are trying to say and I totally agree with you, but the thing is that I am on the verge of getting selected as an SQA for a company in my city. I do have a little, very little knowledge about software testing and on the basis of that I gave two interviews to this company I'm talking about. My 1st interview went great as I was able to answer most questions, but my 2nd interview wasn't that great, it went OK for me. The reason was very simple that they asked some deep questions about this field and of course as I only have a little to no experience as SQA, I wasn't able to answer some of the questions they asked. That's why I understand what you said in your comment.
Now the thing is what if they still keep me then, in that case should have knowledge about sqa as much as possible.....therefore, I'm looking for online material to get myself prepared for this job. If they don't keep me, I'll apply for an internship in the same company and I am more than qualified for that.
Following your advice, I've started my internship in a reputed software house for the job of sqa. It's my third day here in the office and I really hope that I could learn a lot from here.
But, one thing I've realized in 3 days that people look down upon this job, especially a few developers. In fact one of the developers said that only those people become QAs who are not intelligent. It really bugged me and I got mad. I really hope I didn't pick a wrong career.
