Could anyone please suggest me if a junior tester would require an involvement in the Test Planning or not? If yes, then what sort of factors should be expected? Please reply!
Thanks in advance!
Test Planning is a huge task and is usually done by the upper level management and team leaders. junior level testers may take part in the discussion of creating a test pan but as they are novice in the field of testing itself they need some experience in order to do the test planning.
There are a lot of factors that are needed to be considered while doing test planning.
Test planning involves considering these factors:
1. Test Identifier
3. Test Items
4. Features to be tested
5. Features not to be tested
7. Item Pass/Fail criteria
8. Suspension/Resumption criteria
9. Test deliverables
10. Testing tasks
11. Environmental needs
13. Staffing and training needs
15. Risk and contingencies
These factors requires lot of experience in order to do test planning.
I would involve them in some way where appropriate. I don't want my juniors to remain juniors.
i agree with mwsrosso, it's a good idea to involve him in order to start improving his skills!!
otherwise he can star looking what the project is expecting from him!!
Yes its a better idea to involve junior testers.Give step by step process.Start with basic like involve them in discussion, make them clearly understand what are you disusing, what is a project ,how to handle, what are possibilities ways to test a project etc.
