I'm just looking for some anecdotal data from other software QA teams that engage in automated regression testing prior to release. My group currently executes about 350 tests per release and execution and analysis of those results takes between 3-8 hours. If anybody has any data about their team they'd like to share I would greatly appreciate it!
A good rule of thumb is to never measure with your thumb.
Well it depends on the cases or scenarios that involved in regression. For me different product packages varies 45,50,109 test scenarios with corresponding completion time is 45 min, 90 min and 4.5 hrs. In my previous company we run scripts every night and in morning we analyse the result though it doesn't consume more than an hour to analyse the result, again it depends how you design your automation results.
