Regression software testing tools, edit lines of code in multipal python files

    Hi,
I hope this is in the right location, I am a first year student who has a summer position as a software regression test engineer. As a small part of my job, I have to manually edit single lines of code (replacing them with a new more efficient function that I have created) in multipal python files. Does anyone know of some free software that can help me with this task?

A little more info: every file name has a similar title ie: tst_languageSomeLanguageName and the line of code that needs to be edited is very similar too; the only difference being the object that gets passed into them.

Furthermore I am looking for any tools that may be of use to me as a regression test engineer through this summer if anyone knows and good websites with free software.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Cheers

    Dave

For python dev, I've been using PyCharm, Python IDE &amp Django IDE for Web developers : JetBrains PyCharm

It's got all the cool goodies that make it easy to do large scale re factoring. This is a paid product. I'm using a free license I got through contributions to various open source projects, and . If you used IntelliJ or WebStorm.. you'll feel right at home with the interface. For example, you can rename a file, function name, class name, and it'll scan your entire project for all references of that usage, and allow you to refactor them all at once. Personally I'd just pay the $30 bucks, it'll save you a lot of time with it's refactoring and code checking features.

Another IDE i use, is Eclipse with the PyDev plugin. I like PyCharm better development, but I do my software debugging in Eclipse because I like it's REPL better.
