MS Office upgrade Cloud version OK?
I purchased my laptop a couple of years back with MS Office 2010 Starter Addition.
I'd like the rest of the functionality of MS Office.
There is now a web version for $99. It has an automatic update for one year. I don't know if I can turn it off after the first year if I don't care about updates. Do I have to keep paying each year to use it? Has anyone tried it?
I see the upgrade for $119 at Costco for the home/student version. I need it for 2 machines. I don't know if it can go on multiple machines from Costco.
I see other choices at the MS site.
What do others recommend?
I recommend using OpenOffice or LibreOffice instead for free.
I am importing, updating, sending back Word and Excel files.
Can the people I give the work back to notice any difference in the file data? Do they use the same format as Microsoft?
Yeah, they both support importing from and saving back to MS Office formats.
I have yet to find anything missing from OpenOffice that I need in professional or private usage. I even use it on my work Laptop that has Office installed.
In any case, doesn't cost you anything to try it before you go spending money on MS.
