Automation tool for Chat related applications
We are asked to automate the chat (web version) related applications that was developed using Java based applications. The QTP is not recognizing the objects. Is there any other Tools like Selenium etc used by any one in this forum?
Are you talking about a Java Applet or JNLP application? (vs. a web application hosted on a Java server) In the case of Applets and other native Java code executing client side, Selenium won't be able to automate that.

(I'm about 70% sure they probably have a plugin or some support for native Java clients, it may require some sort of tooling to compiling their library into the SUT). If QTP doesn't work, RFT is a fairly good choice for Java Apps. The tool itself has a flavor that runs on Java. It makes writing proxy objects to support Java applications easier than ones that don't run natively in Java. (Having the same platform/language means you can import the developer's code for the control, and use it for making the proxy objects. Generally this is a big pain when going cross platform since you have to sort of do a lot of reverse engineering and break things down into primitive types.)
