Need Support jmeter/load runner
I'm very new to Performance Testing and have a little knowledge about both the tools. I'm actually looking for a professional who can support me on my first job.
How much are you willing to pay this support person? I'm sure if you offer enough you won't have trouble finding someone.
Forest Floor was a company that I took some training classes with performance testing with.
If you are interested, send me a private message and I can give your their contact information.
Performance testing isn't just about running a tool. There are few parts.
- Understand what you are benchmarking (or what your team wants)
- Setup an environment and benchmark the underlying components. - Create a 'baseline'
- Create tools and metrics to measure
- Optimize/tune software
- Create a report of analysis
- Educate the team on performance
A lot of test starts by understanding various bottlenecks. There are basic statics that you need to know (Standard Deviation, and percentiles are a good starting point). Knowing what you need to monitor in your environment is key, creating a baseline benchmark is also very important as well.
What you really need is a mentor. If you are looking at JMeter, you need someone who has written custom plugins and also have augmented it to collect metrics. (JMeter's default metrics are far insufficient so I always customize it). Also, just because someone is good at something doesn't mean they make a good mentor. When you see someone knowledgeable, they will make it look insanely easy. But they need to tell you what they are doing to make it easy.
If this is a job and your boss is asking you to work on this, my best advice is 'manage expectations'. Let him/her know that this is something knew and you are going to need to learn on the job. If you BS'ed your way to a job and you are in a bind, well, you got what you deserve.
