Want to verify understanding of Dormant
I have a situation when a project is releasing functionality that the business will not be using today but at some point in the future. The code is going in live and "ready to use". The Night of deployment release team insists the project is going in dormant because the business will not be using this feature immeadeatly after release.
If the code is going in live and has no "switch" to off with it, isn't that live code not dormant code?
I think it would depend on how it's accessed/launched. Where I work we can put new code in, but the link to it would be hidden, or module(s) that call it would not have that section - thus users would not have access (or even see it). I'm not sure I'd call that "dormant" because the code is active just not accessible. Of course, if everything is all there but the user has simply been instructed "not to use it" - it's live code in my opinion.
Thank you .... that is my understanding of dormant.
