Cloud based requirement and test case applications
I am looking for a cloud based solution for test requirements, test cases, and bug tracking. Right now I am looking at SilkCentral but management would like to be able to add screenshots in each test case step. You can, kind of, but it's a pain.
I was attempting to look at the offerings of Smartbear software but I cannot get their camtasia videos to load on my pcs.
Lastly I am also trying out TestRail. The problem once again (or I haven't learned how to do it yet) is to add images as well in the test steps.
If anyone is currently using a cloud based solution for AT least test requirements please let me know. My order of priority of software options in a bundle is this (all in one application or plugins:
#1 test cases
#2 test cases and bug tracking
#3 requirements, test cases, bug tracking.
I like TestRail in terms of it being simple and one of the lower price offerings.
As for embedding images into the test steps, they have this sort of wiki like language, where you can use some sort of bracketed markup language to insert images. Individual test steps I think is a simple project configuration.
Take a look at PractiTest for cloud-based ALM
I'd suggest you take a look at PractiTest (www.practitest.com) as it provides full support of the needs you mentioned below.
You have requirements management, test management (including the ability to integrate with most automation tools), issue tracking, and excellent graphs & reports. The tool is very easy to use and to configure, and very robust on the methodological side as well.
With regards to capturing images, the approach of the tool is a little different (better in mind...) as it can work with a number of other tools and integrate your images and even short videos into your bugs, steps and even requirements. For example I like using JING by techsmith (http://www.techsmith.com/jing.html) as it is for free and it works great integrated.
I work for PractiTest as their lead solution architect so if you have any questions you can also contact me directly.
Not sure if you've looked into Parasoft SOAtest, but it offers automated testing for cloud-based applications. In full disclosure, I do work for the company, but if you wanted to find out more you can find our research (articles, papers, videos, etc) here: Parasoft Resource Center - Cloud, API, SOA
