Contracting in Vancouver
Not sure where I should post this, so hope here is ok.
I've moved to Vancouver from the UK where I used to contract for 7+ years. I'm starting to think I would like to get back into contracting again, just for a couple of years and wondering what sort of rate an average Test Analyst/QA job would be in Downtown Vancouver?
Also been trying to find Umbrella companies in Canada to do accounts through, but can't find one, so I guess I would have to use an accountant.
Thanks for any information you can give me.
I am in the U.S. so taxes may be different. I found that many accountants ask you to use QuickBooks or some software. I spent more time entering information in to the system than billing. What works better is a credit card that you use only for business expenses. Perhaps one check book. At the end of the year see the total that you have spent. Add up your income from billing. Then give the accountant the two numbers. Opening a company was fun, but it caused too many problems. Many years later the IRS was asking why I was not withholding taxes for my employees. I was the only employee. Then I could not get unemployment later on because I was the CEO of a company.
I saw Vancouver and forgot it was in Washington State.
Well I never knew there was a Vancouver in WA - you learn something new everyday.
Thanks for your reply though.
I really thougt it was in the US until I just went to Google. British Columbia. Canada.
