Testing Global Location Service for a Hotel Shopping tool
Hi everyone, I have lots of years testing, mostly in the airline industry and reservation systems. Today I find myself about to start the test plan and test cases for a Hotel Shopping tool that is moving from using geoservice to Global Location service and Google. There are 3 search criteria that can be used, address/city, airport code, and point of interest. I obviously can't test every destination everywhere, and I'm having a difficult time getting my head around the right approach. The testing will be done mostly manually. I would love some input on what strategy I should use for this effort. Thanks in advance.
I used to work for a travel company so I know where you are coming from. Obviously you are correct and cannot test every destination. I would start by inputting valid addresses only, invalid addresses, valid address and invalid zip code, etc. Different combos. Then move to airport codes, valid and invalid and then the same with the points of interest. Then mix and match. I would put together a test matrix that you can refer to. Valid address, valid airport code, valid address invalid airport code. I don't think anyone would expect you to cover all scenarios. You'd never release the software!
