Need advice regarding my career in SQA
I am looking for a job in Software Quality Assurance (as a SQA Analyst), but unfortunately I don't have any specialization in QA and I also had a gap of 2 yrs in my career. I have total 3.5 yrs of experience in varied profiles (development, testing, QA) , now I want o pursue my career in Software Quality Assurance (Process Compliance) and I want to be competent enough in this field, so that the gaps, job switches in my career do not affect much.
Thus I need some domain expert advice on this. Some people told me to pursue external QA certifications like ITIL, Six Sigma, CMMI as most companies prefer this. But I am quite confused as how to proceed with it. Which certifications should I do? Will these certifications be really helpful in getting a better job? Do companies also ask for some practical experience along with the certifications? Also is the certification enough, or do companies ask for some domain experience too like telecom/banking domain experience along with QA?
Please guide me if someone knows exactly what recruiters look for while recruiting a QA professional, or if you know any other person who can advice me on this. Thanks a lot!
SQA, at an entry level demands more of leg work. Need to handle so many people get the job done like process documents/various other artifacts. So if you are a kind of person who can prove to the interviewer that you can get the job done from the people you are in! as simple as that ad yes with respect to the models/standards CMMi seems good in current scenario. and then most of the companies now a days plan for multiple certifications(based on their business objective) so once you are in I am sure you'll get hands on other models/standards as well. All the very best!!!
