Just thinking ahead for project where we are considering going to a fully agile approach (we are in a horrible hybrid world at the moment). I get that as we go through sprints we generate test materials and these become part of our regression pack (preferably automated) but wonder if these would generate good end to end tests. My main concern is that if regression test focus on specific areas of functionality the holistic view of the whole application will not be covered. In some of the more traditional pojects I work testing the overall business process on the application is a consideration.
I'm curious to hear other peoples experiences of this. Does your combined regression give a good end to end test or do you add some test based upon the full business process?
Exactly that. Work on the deep functional tests as part of the sprints, to be part of your reg tests.
Then work with the business on the E2E tests in parallel. We target our testers to create one E2E business test script per-sprint as part of the sprint delivery. So by the end of that work you've got both focuses covered.
We also learn about previously unrecognised requirements, build business confidence and keep the focus on the bigger picture by working this way.
Basically it is something which has to be performed in the best possible way,Currently if someone haven't learn the right way of it then i must say its necessary to be make it a bother.
If you have discussed it earlier surely there will be a chance of learning more.
