What type of application are you working with? In my case we use the term Data Verification to indicate the verification of controls which produce outputs. So let's say that you're testing a calculator, then you use inputs that would provide an expected output and verify that the output was correct, or the correct answer was given.
However, I suppose that this could also mean testing database entries, if that's what you're working on. So ensuring that the data is stored correctly and such. In my case, I would call this Database Testing, but you should probably clarify what the term is being applied against to truly understand what it is.
