If you're talking about FQTs in your shop then it might mean that you have better documentation than most, because there usually has to be a well-defined spec or requirement doc to build effective FQTs, IMO.

As for UAT vs FQT, as you mention above, in my experience I have seen both used, but an FQT is almost always put forward by us and UAT is performed by the client or on behalf of the client by a subject-matter expert. So the two are actually worlds apart because what may not be specified in the business requirement may be a huge issue in UAT.
