If a person used Rational RobotJ (J for Java) in a previous job, will they be able to hit the ground running in a new job that requires use of Rational Functional Tester, which includes Test Manager and ClearCase LT? Want to start automating and don't want to hire a person who needs re-training. Thanks.
You dont have to re-hire, what the candidate may need is sometime on the tool.
Having seen both the tools, they are similar from the fact that they are record and playback, but when it comes to RFT i would say you got to be bit careful when picking your resource, becuase i feel it is diff from robot in a huge way, also depending on the .Net and Java versions the tester should have good basic info on them which was not the case in robot where it was SQA and also inclsuion of Test Manager and ClearCase are extension of the tool which enhances the experience of it not necessarily to be used as mandatory feature.
