    Re: Testability of requirement

I think what you mean is how do you test a requirement? If not then lord knows what you mean.

To test a requirement you turn it into a test condition, determine what test data is required, figure out what the expected result of that test will be and knock up a test script with test steps to prove that requirement and run it.

    Re: Testability of requirement

Your understand is right, I have requirement captured in document. I want to check(review) if it is testable or not. So would like to know is there any standard method / tool / checklist / criteria of doing it.

    Thanks for your reply again.

    Re: Testability of requirement

This is very vague. Are you talking about a software requirement?
If so then you turn it into a test condition as I stated on my previous post.

(I've got a sinking feeling about this thread)

When I talk about "Testability of requirements", it refers to the clarity, measurability and preciseness of the requirements that allows me to test them.

For example, requirements with poor testability might be something like:
    - The system must be fast. (how fast? under what conditions?)
    - The system must be easy to use. (easy for who? how can we measure easy?)
    - The system must produce error messages. (saying what? )

So "Testability" is an attribute of the Requirements. You don't "do testability".

But you can read the requirements and discuss their testability, or lack thereof, then seek an improvement.

That's cleared that up then. Or confused the poor chap even more.

    Re: Testability of requirement

I think it should be clearer after Joe's explanation. There are many things to be tested on requirement, you can find http://testinggeek.com/reqverif.asp this relevant in terms of what to look for when you get a requirement document.

    Hope it helps.
