In my region, the term "test artifact" means any deliverable produced by QA/QC. This might include test strategies or plans, test cases (both manual and automated), status reports, and and metrics documents.
We classify any input and output data, database, special environmental items, setup & test procedures, and any defect data as Artifacts and all are archived for 7 years as per Sarbanes-Oxley compliance.
Success is the ability to go from one failure to another with no loss of enthusiasm.
~ Winston Churchill ~
A question: Has anyone come across the meaning of "artifact" as used in - say - astronomy, while in the testing environment? If so, then a "testing artifact" might - just might - be construed to mean a "glitch" of some sort.
