Re: usability and configuration testing to QA standards
QA Standards vary from company to company and customer to customer. You may find that companies like to follow the "Windows standard" of usability and configuration for applications but there may be or probably will be variants based on your company or customer's requirements.
Talk to your team leader, perhaps a developer to understand what standards they followed and/or check with the business analyst with the expectations of the customer and upper management.
If this is a small company where standards are not defined, then I would talk with the liaison to the customer on expectations.
