What all the informations need to be added in a Testplan? I guess the following are need to be placed in it.
1. Scope of the Test Plan
- Hardware Resources
- Software Resources
3. Risk Involved
- S/W, H/W, Human Resources
4. Need to Specify Starting Criteria
5. Test Cases
6. End Criteria
Suggest me on this. I want to know whether my approach is right or wrong? Need more comments/inputs on it.
1. Title & Identification.
2. entry criteria (along with exit criteria) should be added. The terms are not specified properly.
3. Definations of what means what.
5. Test Environment.
6. Tracking of Issues.
Identification plus anything that target reader of this document will be interested in. Use IEEE 829 as checklist for items to be considered. Consider anything more.
e.g. you may need to describe what tools will be used for defect tracking, what statuses, how severity/priority will be determined, etc. On the other hand if this is self evident or you have common guidelines in company – just skip it. Let the reader concentrate on actual information. Test Plan is your main communication channel.
P.S. It’s a pity that there is a practice to include a lot of blah-blah and copy-paste in test plans.
