I have a suite of scripts I will be running regularly, and I want to email the results to a group of people (probably just generalities, like the scripts that successfully completed). I've found great ideas/sample scripts on this site and am sure somebody is already doing this. I welcome your insights.
I'm thinking at the beginning of the script set varComplete=0 at the end of the script change varComplete to 1 and then evaluate. If varComplete=1, then "completed" else "not completed" for example. What would really be great is if the test driver remains in control so the driver executes the next test even if the preceding test script fails to complete.
That's my challenge. I am hoping somebody has a solution.
Hmmmm, what's your question? You've described what you're trying to do, but I don't see any specific request for information. Mercury Testdirector and Rational Test Manager will handle test failover. You could also do this by scripting a main test script that calls other test scripts and does cleanup actions in between them or other tasks based on pass/fail result returned from the called test.
Be careful about inundating people with email - it may not be as well received as you think. Also until you have reviewed the results from your automated test you can only be sure that it has run - not that everything has worked.
