we have got a report in our application which generates a budget estimate and cash flow for the entire project period. Now the problem is although the budget is generated by just passing couple of parameters in the form, but it does depends on 30 other parameters, which are stored in various other parts of the application.
Now If I need to test this particular report with these 30 varied parameters, the perumutation and combination of these 30 parameters are huge. So my question which will be the best fit technique that I would have to employ that gives me the best results and could save my time too. I had asked some of my friends but they too are not so sure about this, some had suggested orthogonal arrays, but then I am at a loss to figure out that to how many levels that I should design my orthogonal array and what values my control variables will hold to test it.
Re: How to test a report with 30 + varying parameters
You good look at the All-Pairs technique which is similar to Orthogonal Arrays. James Bach has developed a handy tool to calculate combinations based on this method. The tool can be found at his web-site (http://www.satisfice.com/).
