# Thread: How to Check range of Numbers

1. ## How to Check range of Numbers

Hello guys,

I have on doubt,What are different test cases
must come for checking the range of numbers
(for example 0 to 50)

regards
priya

Some searching and reading on "boundary test" and on "equivalence partition" should clear this up for you.

3. ## Re: How to Check range of Numbers

A few checks for +ve test cases (random nos. between 0 - 50)

and a few -ve test cases (random nos. out of the range )

hope this will help

You can use equivalence partitioning and boundry value analysis for this.
First try to deduce the equivalence class then figure our all possibel test data and eliminate the redundant test data.

Boundary Test 0 - 50

Test for -1, 0, 25, 50, 51

6. ## Re: How to Check range of Numbers

Boundary Test 0 - 50

Test for -1, 0, 25, 50, 51
<font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica">That assumes the field will only allow integers. What about:

0.0000001
-0.0000001
49.99999999
50.00000001
2E1
twenty
99/3

You also need to test sending the field blank.

9. ## Re: How to Check range of Numbers

so far, we are all assuming the numbers are going into a data entry field or as constants into source code. Is this the case ram_priya?

10. ## Re: How to Check range of Numbers

Hi,
If it is going into data entry field ,
you have to test for
1.Data type(Numeric...)
2.Data format(1,-1,.1,1.00,.00....)
3.Boundary conditions(-1,1,25,50,51,....)
with positive and negative possibilities
