I'm afraid I'm going to need more information before I can determine what types of tests to run.
By 'system' do you mean the computer itself, the application date & time?
What do you mean by "fail"? Incorrect? Missing? Slow or Fast? And if slow or fast, by how much?
What were the criteria for determining success?
A couple of requirements needed here.
System here refers to the current computer system on which your testing the application.
where we try to get the current system date and time
into the application. The problem arises when my
application is unable to read the data and time from
the current system.so may test fails...so what
type of test do i need to perform than.
Your scenario is framed here -Your application should read the date and time from the system where your application is running)
You can call it as "integration testing" b'cas your application is communicating to externals
You cann't say simply you scenario is failed ,B'cas your application is communicating with "OS" to get the date and time ,so it needs some interface or library files for communication, so check whether the necessary
files or library or any interface are needed for your application to get the date and time.
Install the same application on other machine and test it.Otherwise check with the development team and get the information how they are getting the date and time from the system and
for that what they are doing.(calling any function or library file or using any interface)
If every things are present to get the date and time from system to your application and it is not getting the date and time then only you can fail the test case.
