What is progressive testing and what is the difference between progression and regression testing?
Re: Progressive testing
Progressive testing is a testing method used to test modules one after the other. This is commonly referred to as -- Incremental testing. Here, (at a very high level), when a parent/child module is being tested, the related (depending) modules would need to be tested first (This approach testing method has two approaches --> Top-down, Bottom-up and Sandwich). This will again depend on what testing approach you are following as given above.
I do not want to give a lenghty statement on this. But, for more information on this, you can refer topics under "Incremental testing".
In simple terms, assume a particular module(s) had bug in it and has been rectified. To ensure that such a rectification has not lead to new bugs creeping in,you do a Regression testing of the entire module under question. Doing Regression testing will help us to check if any new bugs have crept in while the earlier bug was being fixed.
