# Thread: Objective type of question

1. ## Objective type of question

Below is my question here i want to know the correct answer with explanation.

- Boundry value analysis comes under -

a. Positive testing

b. Negative testing

c. Integration testing

d. Regression testing

2. ## Re: Objective type of question

Hai Ridhi,
You want to know the correct answer???
I dont think anyine over here gives any wrong or misguiding answers.
Coming back to your question, Boundary value analysis is a testing technique which can be used at any level of testing. The Different types of testing are what you have mentioned here.
Lets say you are testing a students Percentage Column.
The positive testing would be the values 0,50,100
Negative testing would be -1,101 these should fail.
If you think you need to check the boundary valu at any part of your testing just test it , no matter if it is for regression, integration, unit or anything else.
Bye hope this helps

3. ## Re: Objective type of question

Hi,

A test data selection technique in which values are chosen to lie along data extremes.

Boundary values include maximum, minimum, just inside/outside boundaries, typical values, and error values.

The hope is that, if a systems works correctly for these special values then it will work correctly for all values in between.

4. ## Re: Objective type of question

The answer is "all of the above". Boundary tests can be positive (within the boundary), negative (outside the boundary), and can be incorporated into either integration OR regression testing.

5. ## Re: Objective type of question

Yuva - very good text book definition of boundary analysis, but not very informative, and does not address the original question.

Linda is right.

6. ## Re: Objective type of question

Totally agree with Linda and Darrel, but then, maybe Saju has already taken the test.

Different employers and different certification groups teach differently. They want you to learn a specific answer to a specific question the way they tell you to. Later in your career you can determine for yourself what is correct.

... hoping for Riddhi that if the question was taken from an online exam they did offer checkboxes instead of radiobuttons - otherwise the given answers are of no use for him ...

8. ## Re: Objective type of question

...boundary value analysis comes under +ve & -ve testing.. there are three things in boundary value analysis...
1) on the boundary
2) below the boundary
3) above the boundary
any two class can be -ve or +ve testing ,on the bondary beeing one of the two.

9. ## Re: Objective type of question

Bandu,
And your source of reference is?

10. ## Re: Objective type of question

i have implemented it......
say for a text field the age should be more than 20 then +ve class is 21 and above thats above the the boundary.... 19 and below is -ve class thats below the boundary and 20 is on the boundary 7 is -ve ... in this case two -ve & one positive cases are thr... but if you consider other two options in orignal question regression option is not valid cause you check for the test cases which were passed before any changes made in it are working properly or not. and in integration the interphase is tested...

Regards..
bandu
