Do you know large organizations who use ET, SBTM?

I am curious to know if large organizations use ET. I am thinking of not just the philosophy of ET, but using sessions to manage the process. I am not looking for specific names of companies.

I was also interested to know if teams who are not part of software product companies use ET, e.g., financial sector software - banks, insurance cos. ,etc.

    Hi Nilanjan,

Yes, all testers at MS use ET as an approach in their testing. Some teams use a SBTM like approach, but for decades we have also used what we call bug bashes which direct exploratory testing in focused areas such as globalization, security, etc. And, we also use exploration in our customer scenario testing approaches.

The key thing to remember, there is no single 'right' way to perform ET. We all do it, and we do it with varying degrees of success. If SBTM helps you keep your testers focused on the context of the problem then it is a great tool in that regard.

    Thanks for your reply.

I was also curious to know if large non-s/w cos use ET, such as banks. I would think it may be more difficult to get a buy-in from senior managers/executives.

Every organization goes with ET at some point of time to see the application reliability. Especially in Agile, this is common considering less time.
