Estimation unknown projects?
Hi, I have to create a process for estimating charges to develop keyword driven auto tests (keywords we develop and not QTP native "keywords" ;-)).
I'm in a service division in which we have developed a framework that creates as output a QTP compatible keyword auto test file.
I would like to know how i can estimate charge for projects that want to use this service (we are new so don't have experiences to use for estimating).
I could try to create such a table for estimating time to develop simple keywords, medium keywords, complexe keywords...
But i'm not sure it is relevant because object recognition can change so much the time to develop tests. So is it possible to generalise enough to estimate like this, I don't know.
Someone has an idea?
Re: Estimation unknown projects?
It seems you need at least the following factors:
1. Hourly impact*** for each person involved in the effort,
2. Effort hours estimates for:
2.1. Simple or low complexity.
2.2. Medium complexity.
2.3. High compexity.
3. When you have all of 2, and you are in a rework situation because of GUI changes impacting previous work, then you would need a rework estimate based upon the knowledge for item 2.
*** impacts include total cost of you to your company as an employee (benefits, workspace cost, tools, etc.)
