New to Test Management activities.
I have been assigned Test management responsibilities as a Test lead. I have to coach and guide team members, estimation of testing, planning, adequacy of test systems, identifying risks, tracking defects, test process improvement, etc.. Apart from these, i also need to write testcases and execute.
I feel very tense when things are at peak. I am also feeling very nervous whether iam capable of handling these stuff. I am confused. Please help..
Re: New to Test Management activities.
I think it normal to have these feelings when faced with new challenges.
In my opinion, focus on the areas that require the most attention. You can get a feel for that by listening to your team. Retract your shirt sleeves and set the angle of attack for your knuckles downward. Be responsive to the demands of the job, keeping improvements moving along in the background. If you have a responsible and knowledgeable team, they will be on auto pilot for the most part with respect to the work routine. The most important thing to remember is that a disabled team will be ineffective. Your job is to ensure the team is enabled - whether by you or those in the management layer above you.
