At the project kick-off, we set standards for pass criteria of testing like 5 (MF)Malfunctions/KLOC, i.e. if not more than 5 malfunctions are encountered in 1000 lines of Code, the test can be given exit. Else, rework and similar measures have to be adopted. How do you fix up this standard of 5 MF/KLOC.
We are starting our QA process newly and we don't have any historic data. How to arrive at this sort of exit criteria? This is for LOC. How do we do with Function Points, since that will be most preferred method for our organisation?
Why not start with what you already use and add in that all system, regression, and performance tests must be completed satisfactorily as well as all testers associated with the project agree that the application is ready for release? Then the Test Manager must perform the formal release.
After you have some history you could change to add in the function points and whatever else might be required.
Success is the ability to go from one failure to another with no loss of enthusiasm.
