I have a more than a couple of years of QA under my belt and have been asked to start a QA department for the new company I work for. It's a great opportunity and there are ver few restrictions.
In the past I've used Bugzilla and a couple of other bug tracking software programs.
I'd like to stick with free-ware, but it's not mandatory. Total users will between 10-20.
I've gone through a bunch of packages and have come up with a list. I'd like to see if anyone has used one or the other and has any comments on one over the other. (Note: I wasn't impressed with Bugzilla at all when I used it a couple of years ago).
I've used both Bugzilla and Mantis. The biggest advantages of Bugzilla for me were ability to integrate it with CVS and Testopia as well as pretty solid support behind it. They just released version 3.0 few weeks ago which does show some major improvements. I would give it a try especially with not that large of the user group.
We use Trac, which is pretty good, but not a whole lot of detail, plus the reporting is pretty meager.
I was looking at info on the new Bugzilla (haven't used it since 98 or so) and it looked pretty nice IMO. If you haven't already, go take a look at the feature set for it's new release, I'm trying to convince my group to take a look.
