Has anybody used or evaluated Axosoft OnTime 2006? It seems to be a fairly robust tracking tool, which includes defect/feature/task tracking for multiple projects. I'm pretty sure we're going to use this tool so I'm looking for anybody that has a positive or negative opinion of it. I'm the only QA with 6 developers. My requirements are:
3) Configurable workflow
4) Customizable entry dialogs
This seems to have all of these things so looking for any input. http://www.axosoft.com. They have a free full-featured trial.
Yes, I had the trial and I've configured it to how I think we will use it. It probably fits to about 90% of our needs. I just went through a list of defect software from another thread and for the money, this looks to be the most robust and user-friendly software package that is self-contained in a local network envrironment. In comparing with TestDirector, this software doesn't do anything like maintain automated test scripts or run them nightly or anything like that. OnTime seems to be the best straight-forward defect tracking system that I've seen in my search. I don't like the UI of MOST defect tracking systems, but this one seems OK. I think we'll probably end up with this one because I haven't found anything that meets our needs better that has been mentioned in this forum.
I used OnTime in my previous job and liked it very much. I would definitely recommend on it. I was a developer then and I know that the testers liked it too. Today I work with VSTS which is totally something else (issue tracker is only one feature of it) but as an issue tracker I miss OnTime.
In my current position, we use OnTime for defect tracking, but mostly it is used to keep the developers in check. I see a lot of features/wish list requests from clients included as well. But it seems to be a good system. I've yet to log anything as it's only been a few months and no real formal testing of anything as far as I can see!
