    Aargh! Gemini is driving me crazy...

    I've recently started work at a company as their first permanent QA person. They got Gemini before I came on board and a developer initially set it up. I'm trying to make some small changes to make it easier for us to use but I keep hitting walls. I am so frustrated and many of my issues seem so OBVIOUS that I wonder if any testers were involved in the design or if this is a developer's idea of what testers want.

    Adding custom fields requires direct access to the database--can't be done through the user interface. Status is limited because you can only have one status that equals "assigned". Status also has this pre-state/post-state feature that complicates something that should be really simple. And the email notifications are all or nothing--you are either deluged with emails on things that may or may not pertain to you or else you get no notifications at all (this is a known issue that Gemini is working on).

    Is there anyone out there who uses Gemini and can give me some tips? Have you had to do lots of tweaking to make it work? Have you been able to mold it to fit your organization or are you molding your organization to fit the tool? What other inexpensive tools you would recommend?
