I'm just finishing evaluation of QA Center and I need to make sure that TrackRecord can handle our needs. Unfortunately I can't get it to do something simple: To have one combo box in a field change it's contents according to the value set by the combo box in a different field.
One case is to have a product field, and then the version no. field changes according to which product is selected. This would seem to be to be a simple requirement for a defect tracking tool which needs to handle multiple products.
It would appear to me that the solution is to use the "Constrain choices by values in field:" property of the second field, set to the first field. But I can't seem to get this to do what I want. Can anyone help?
We have been using TrackRecord Since the beginning of November and have been able to get it to do anything that we need including complicated rules with dependencies on other fields. We automatically populate fields based on input from other fields, and force uses to make entries in foelds before changing statuses of defects. I found that with the Workflow and Type/Rule setup, we were able to handle everything we have thrown at it so far. I am very pleased with Compuwares tools.
Results (performance and financial) are the natural consequence of effective Quality Management.
I've a couple of questions for you about TrackRecord if you don't mind. Are you using the client or web interface? If you are using the web interface, have any of the machines that use the web interface got a SUN JDK/JVM installed on them?
We sorted out the problem. If you have a Sun JVM installed and are using Internet Explorer and have the Sun JVM selected in the Internet Options (Advanced Tab), you run into problems. Solution is to select the Microsoft VM and not the Sun one in the Internet Options.
Field constraints are located in the field properties fromt the type editor. All you will need to do is constrain the version or build field to project, then add your specific versions or builds to the specific project items from the item browser.
