We also use TrackRecord as a defect tracker and according to Tech Support and our sales rep, the new version (6.1) will take care of this function. They also stated that the version would be ready on 7/28/01.
I'm not sure about the rebuild aspect as we didn't get into that conversation. It's just a pain to do a Check Database without being able to schedule it at this time. Believe me, doing the check on a regular basis save a bunch of headaches.
As far as our other uses, we just started using it about 3 months ago and currently other than for defect tracking, we are also starting to use it for script tracking as well. The uses are fairly open for it with the aspect of being able to create your own types which allows for plenty of customization.
I would like to be able to speak with you about the various ways that you are currently using TrackRecord. We are having a meeting to discuss other models that can be incorporated in the tool and your input would be valuable to this conversation. Would you be willing to have a conversation this week about this?
Our company has been using Track Record for some time now, since v3.0 (1997). Although we are using v4.0 right now, and have been since 1998, it is interesting to note that some of our reasons for not upgrading (lost records, need to rebuild often) have not been addressed.
Our QA department is in the process of evaluating testing tools, and we looked at QARun as one of our options. It was quickly put aside because we have so many difficulties with TrackRecord.
