web ASP tracking
Does anyone know of any ASP-only solutions for bug or defect trackers. I'm not concenred about cost but I am about having the full source to the ASP. I don't want it wrapped up in some COM object that I can't get at. If anyone knows anything like that, please let me know.
Re: web ASP tracking
I actually have not seen much in this regard, at least as regards ASP where you get the source code as well. Open Source in this regard is usually UNIX/Linux and CGI based.
Generally, however, you can write your own if that is what you are looking for. You might want to check out sites like http://www.planetsourcecode.com that has some ASP sections. No bug/defect trackers that I have seen, but enough code to get you started. You might also want to check out various ASP sites that offer source code. The other thing you can do is build a database in Microsoft Access 2000 and save it as a Data Access Page. This way you will at least get a template of how to do it and you can modify as suits your needs.
You might want to check out Avensoft's Perfect Tracker. This was not ASP, per se, but they did use a highly modifiable extension of HTML (basically HTX) with SQL commands. A relatively cheap product as well. They are at http://www.avensoft.com.
Re: web ASP tracking
I posted this on another thread, however maybe you are familiar with the issue I have encountered.
I developed an eCommerce auction type application in ASP/VBScript using IIS web server. When the HTML page link (VBscript) calls the ASP I am prompted to download a component. There isn't anything I coded to download a component. I am at a loss. This is probably not the code, but the way the system is configured. Specifically IIS. Is there an inepensive or free automated testing tool for this type of issue? I am a hobbyist, and do not make my living doing this. Since it is non-commercial can I download a trial version of a particular test tool. Something to test the script as well as the communication process with IIS ?
