I'm looking for a tool that can be used as the program change control as to make sure that only the right version be moved to productional environment for better control from QA point of view. Our banks have been using PVCS (from CSA)all this while.
Is there any tools that can be used to perform such function which is better than PVCS. What are their strength and weaknesses?
Just by what I see the only thing I can say is what are your requirements? I think all of the tools have a facility to make sure the "right" versions get into production. I have worked with VSS which was okay, but I wasn't happy with the security that it provided. It had a labeling and pin facility to keep the right files in sync.
Nordinar -- I agree with Peter that we would be able to help better if we knew some specifics on your requirements. Many of us have used several different tools for "Change Control", and most implement some kind of labeling or baselining facility for keeping desired groups of file-versions together for promotion.
