How to trouble-shoot SMTPserver connection failure?
I'm trying to get Bugzilla working under Windows 7 using Apache 2.4 and ActivePerl.
At this point the Bugzilla web-interface is working (extremely slowly) and I'm trying to setup the SMTP server parameters.
I have the domain name of an smtp server - call it smtp.xyz.com
When I set the "smtpserver" to smtp.xyz.com and click "Save Changes", the following error msg appears:
"The new value for smtpserver is invalid: Cannot connect to smtp.xyz.com."
I tried setting smtp_debug ON and am looking in [/Apache24/logs/]error.log for some clues, but see nothing new after clicking "Save Changes".
I don't own the SMTP server. I can ping it, and trust it works.
There is an enterprise antivirus running on the Bugzilla server.
Do I need to make a firewall exception? If so, for what application?
Any help is appreciated!
Antivirus software has been blocking perl.exe from connecting to the SMTP server (port 25).
