I'm not sure what happened, but networked mode doesn't seem to work any longer. The only thing that changed is that instead of having two users, we now have three users connected to the same project. We tried deleting the pjs.tcNet file so that we could all open the project and choose to open the project in Networked mode. This appears to work the first time anyone makes a change, but then on any subsequent changes none of us gets the Reload option. Any have an idea of what might be causing this to happen?
Personally, we don't used Networked mode as a mode for use while editing a project. While this works, it is inefficient in our case. If two people are editing the same unit of code, the save of one might overwrite the save of another.
To this end, we have our users pull down the latest source from our source control, make their edits, and then, during the checkin process, check to see what changes might have been made.
However, we do use network mode to run the same projects on multiple machines. This way we can test different configurations and operating systems.
All that said, could you indicate which version of the tool you are using? I seem to recall that the problem you indicated was reported and corrected at some point in time. It may be fixed in TC 6.3 already.
We are all working on different pieces of code and there are only a few common areas, so this is usually not a problem. Mainly, the namemapping is shared, so if I am going to map some objects, I will let the others on my team know that I will be making changes. I then make the changes and then they can reload the changes when I am finished. Again, this was not a problem at first, but started to become a problem as additional users connected to the project.
We are pretty new to TestComplete, so we are not sure if there is some setting that maybe we changed that is causing this to happen. Maybe we just need to upgrade to the latest version.
