    Test pass/fail weired behavior.

I am using TestComplete 6.12. We are testing .NET 3.5 application written in c#.

There is a weired problem that i am running into. I have some test scripts written for testing the GUI (WPF control in this case). I am doing simple operations such as reading values from the text boxes, slider controls etc.

Now comes the problem, my test pass successfully without any exception or errors 50% of the time, otherwise they fail. Log shows that it fails because it unables to detect the GUI control. It gives the following error

    "guiObject_name Object does not exists"

Test should fail at all the times if it fails to detect the object and not only half of the times.

What could be the reason of this? Has anyone faced the similar problem before?

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks a lot.

    Re: Test pass/fail weired behavior.

This sounds like a standard timing issue. I'm assuming that the GUI control is not existant until after some particular task is executed.

You need to investigate using the WaitWPFObject call to wait until the object actually exists before you proceed. The help documentation is pretty good in explaining what you're running into.

    Re: Test pass/fail weired behavior.

Sorry for the delayed reply...in mean time i was working on the probelm and i came to know that after adding support for WPF applications from project properties it worked just fine.

so it wasnt a timing issue, it was specifically related to adding particular control classes of your application related to wpf in project properties->open application->wpf.

So bottomline is if you want to dig deep into wpf(or 3rd party) controls, add them in your project.

    Thanks for the help.

    Manas.
