I am trying to start my application with testcomplete. To achieve this, I want to turn on the recording functionality and click Start--> All programs --> ABC --> XYZ.
This recording sequence should Click start, click all programs, click ABC and then start/launch the application XYZ. For instance, this can be like clicking start, all programs, Microsoft office, and Microsoft word.
When I stop my recording in TestComplete and run the test routine, I expect test complete to start my application but this does not happen. Is there a plug-in required to do this or is there a better way to do this?
Re: Running application from the start menu using TC
Is there some reason why you need to use the Start Menu to launch your application? Is this part of your test? If not, I'd suggest you look into using the TestedApps object and execute your application that way. Please see the help information on that object.
Another method is to create an instance of the WScript.Shell object and use the "Run" method from that. That will also execute your application and do it as if you executed it at a command line. Somewhere up here is posted code on how to do so. You should be able to find it with a quick search.
