Building an custom application to run tests
My company is trying to simplify running the tests. We were able to create framework that creates and run an ODT tree based on steps written in excel file.
Now we would like to create an application in delphi that could execute those tests. As far as I know we should try something with connected application. But I don't have any idea how should we design it.
What we want to do.
In application (this in delphi) we would like to select the excel file and pass this parameter to the script written in TC5. The run button in this application should execute the test (so opening TC, the tested application and starting test).
I'm looking for information how can I open/close test complete and do everything like I described it.
Any samples would be helpful.
Re: Building an custom application to run tests
I think, you do not need to create a connected application. You can achieve the same functionality (visually select an Excel file and run the script) by using the User Forms feature of TestComplete. Please see the "User Forms" help topic for information on this feature.
To run TestComplete and automatically start the script routine that will display the user form, you can use the tool's command line (for example, create a bat file with the needed instructions and execute it when you need to run the test). Please see the "TestComplete Command Line" help topic for more information.
