We are planning to use TestComplete for Functional Regression.our application development platform is Java SWT 3.1.1/3.2
my primary problem is whther all control/objects are recogonised by TC,we have tried with QTP and found majority of it was working fine , i must here say that SWT applications are nightmare for automation.how good is TC in terms of Recogonising the objects
has anyone worked on TC upon a SWT application
Re: TESTCOMPLETE Quires
TestComplete can recognize all Java applications, including SWT, as Open. This means that the tool can access native methods and properties of objects in such applications. If an object in a SWT application is recognized by TestComplete as Open, the tool uses the SWTObject method to address this object. Otherwise, the Window method is used.
Although there are some problems related to peculiarities of SWT framework, I would recommend that you install the free demo version of TestComplete and try it. You can download the demo here:
Please note that since SWT applications have a lot of auxiliary objects and these objects do not have native names, there can be problems with differentiating these objects. I recommend that you use the Name Mapping feature to map these objects with custom meaningful names. Also, you can remove non-visual objects from the object hierarchy by using the Aliases tree. Please see the 'Name Mapping' and 'Name Mapping Aliases' help topics for details.
