Parametrize the test script in the automated tools
I would like to know if and how it is possible to parametrize the test script in following test tools. It means that I want to read the data for Excel table and to use it in the scripts.
* Rational Robot
Yes, I am also searching the forum and the Internet, I just need it till tomorrow. Thank you very much.
Re: Parametrize the test script in the automated t
Rational Robot uses CSV files for its datapools if you write the proper code. You need to use the SQA function for reading a datapool file, or you can use a VB Read Line command (after you open the file via FSO) and then parse the line (split on the ',') into your fields.
If you really want to get fancy you can read direct from Excel via a COM call (search MSDN for this code).
But KISS the thing and use the built in functionality of Robot to read datapool files (CSV).
QARun has its own data files and as such need to be read using its built in functions. But you might be able to do a file open and then read/parse the file. You will have to know some C to do it properly (from what I remember).
