Low cost regression / functional testing tool
We are looking for a low cost regression / functional testing tool to test a Java application using Swing . The UI has custom components.
We are considering Testcomplete4 by automated QA. What is the general feed back on this tool?
Re: Low cost regression / functional testing tool
I would start by browsing the TestComplete section of this forum, and posting a question on relating to the support for Java with Swing and custom UI controls.
I have been using TestComplete 2 and 3 for about 18 months now, albeit with a C++/MFC application, and found both the tool and the support to be very good. I haven't yet bothered to move onto version 4, as TC3 does all i need at present. Given it has a free 30 day trial, it is probably worth verifying that it works with your application and environment.
It is also worth doing an advanced search on this (automated tools) using keywords such as cost and ROI, as there has been plenty of lively discussion on the overall cost of automation, and what a small part of that cost the price of the tool is.
