My company is going to evaluate TestComplete.
I got a few questions.
Does it support datadriven testing using excel tables?
I used to work with WinRunner for many years but the price of WinRunner is too high for this company.
So here is a qustion to those of you who have used both TestComplete and Winrunner. What can you say in a few words. Can TestComplete do most of what WinRunner can do ? We need to test a browser based client side application created with Java and also some back end automation would be great.

In script, you can use a number of data sources for data-driven testing: Excel tables, databases of different formats, CSV files, ordinary text files, etc. There are several sample scripts demonstrating this way of testing that are shipped with TestComplete.

TestComplete is able to test Web applications in Internet Explorer. If the application uses Java applets, this is not a problem - just recompile the applets as Open and you'll be able to use internal methods and properties of your applet objects in scripts.
