    Object identification issue

    Hi all,
I am very new to this tool, and am evaluating the same.
I tried to record a scenario on a Java application (an applet with swing components), but the tool is recording the actions on co-ordinate basis. for example, if there is a button click, it is recording a click with its X & Y co-ordinates. I tried recording the same on windows calculator application, it is recording correctly.

Can anyone help/advise what I am doing wrong or if there is any settings to be done? I am NOT doing a low-level recording

    Thanks in advance...

'Login to the xxxx yyyyy module of the application.
    Sub Test1
    Set p = Sys.Process(&quot;java&quot;, 3)
    Set w = p.Window(&quot;SunAwtDialog&quot;, &quot;xxx yyy Manager Login&quot
    w.Activate
    Call Sys.Keys(&quot;p52ora9d_ibc[Tab]ibcdev[Tab]&quot
    Call w.Click(103, 145)

    End Sub

'Search using the search utility (Search criteria - Last Name:test)
    Sub Test2
    Set p = Sys.Process(&quot;java&quot;, 3)
    Set w = p.Window(&quot;com.xxxx.yyyy.applets.Frame&quot;, &quot;xxxxx yyyy Manager&quot
    w.Activate
    Call w.Click(98, 65)
    Set w = p.Window(&quot;SunAwtDialog&quot;, &quot;Enter Your Search Criteria&quot
    w.Activate
    Call Sys.Keys(&quot;test&quot
    Call w.Click(154, 170)
    Call w.Click(79, 223)

    End Sub</pre><hr /></blockquote><font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica">

    Re: Object identification issue

Is the Object Browser showing any children of the window or the process? It looks like TC isn't seeing any children, so it's defaulting to a coordinate click.

    Re: Object identification issue

    HI Niranjan,

Please compile your applet as an Open Application (you can find the detailed description on how to do this in the "Creating Open Applications in Java" help topic). Once you do this, TestComplete will recognize separate controls of the applet and the recorded scripts will be much clearer.
