We are currently looking at automating our test collateral. We have evaluated WinRunner which is a tool that a number of the team have used and are happy with. TestComplete is another one on the shortlist but none of the team have used it.
What I'd like is an honest opinion, preferably from someone using TestComplete on a Delphi application who has also WinRunner in the past - what are the stengths/weaknesses of the two apps.
We use Testcomplete with a mix of Delphi apps, although I have no experience with WinRunner I can tell you that TestComplete is much more intuitive and easier to use than Rational Robot. Not to mention how much more robust TestComplete is than Robot.
We have a series of very extensive applications that are comprised of almost completely custom controls. What we could not gain access to by making our app an open app we were able to get by wrapping certain areas of the app with the PRegister utility provided by TestComplete.
As a side note although AQA does not have phone support, their Email Support and Newsgroup support far surpasses the level of support I could have asked for. Very professional group of people that are really on the ball.
