I currently use silktest, but my company is considering using testcomplete. One of the features of silktest I find invaluable is the recovery system; this sets up functions which are automatically run before and after every testcase. Benefits include the ability to set up the aut in a specific configuration, to react sensibly to errors, etc.
Does testcomplete do anything like this?
Re: Recovery system?
If you use test suites to organize your script routines, you can specify the routines which should be executed before and after every suite in the Initial Routine and Final Routine properties of a suite. Please take a look at the "Test Suites Panel" help topic to get more information about this feature.
In addition, there are a number of events that allow you to implement custom handling of different situations that occur during the script execution: OnStartTest, OnStopTest, OnLogError, OnUnexpectedWindow, OnOverlappingWindow, etc. I recommend that you read about them in the "List of Project Events" help topic.
