I have found many posts dealing with opening, reading, writing, deleting and other actions for .xml files. What Iím looking for is just returning a Boolean value (true, false) if inside of file c:\master\here\that.xml contains the text string Ďtestí. My concern is the file contains where the application is directing the data to, production or test. After I alter the file a simple check that Iím stilling running on the test database is what Iím looking for.
Using a simple search probably will get the job done.
You might want to use what ever xml library the scripting language you use provides so you can read other values in the xml file as well. You can probably google "<insert your programming language here> reading xml files", and it'll probably give you a good example of how to do it and which libraries to use.
